At the core of Housing&’s mission is building the capacity of its members to support the development of thriving communities across the Capital Region of Baltimore, Washington and Richmond. With this mission in mind, Housing& recognized a need to cultivate a pipeline to support the next generation of community development professionals, and in 2015 GenerationHousing& was born.
The goal of the GenerationHousing& initiative is to provide needed tools and guidance to our “emerging leaders” as they pursue successful careers in the public and private sector. Housing&’s Braintrust Committee acts as an advisor to the initiative, ensuring that the content and activities are impactful for emerging leaders.
WHAT WE DO
Mentorship Program
This year-long program provides emerging leaders with the tools and guidance to support them in pursuing successful careers. Applications for this program will reopen in the Fall of 2025.
GenerationHousing& Scholarship
The GenerationHousing& Scholarship provides financial support to outstanding students residing in Housing& member properties who are pursuing higher education at an accredited four-year college or university. Learn more and donate today.
GenerationHousing& Dialogues & Leadership Intensives
GenerationHousing& Dialogues are “Fireside Chat” style conversations with industry veterans designed for emerging leaders to connect with housing and community development trailblazers. Leadership Intensives are sessions designed to provide skill-building opportunities needed for emerging leaders to thrive in the workplace.
Volunteer Opportunities
Special opportunities for “on-the-ground” engagement in communities throughout the Capital Region. These events serve as a reminder of WHY we do the work.
Higher Education Outreach
At its core, GenerationHousing& is designed to carve pathways for the next generation of community development leaders. The Braintrust Committee is intentional in building relationships with local colleges and universities, so that students can leverage Housing&’s resources for a jump start on their careers.
WHO CAN ATTEND GENERATIONHOUSING& ACTIVITIES?
Everyone! Although GenerationHousing& programming is targeted towards emerging leaders, a critical component of the initiative is the connection forged between rising professionals and seasoned experts.
