Housing& is elated to celebrate 35 years of impact at our upcoming Annual Meeting & Housing Expo! Mark your calendars for May 13, 2026 as we return to the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC for a day of reflection, connection, and joy.

This year’s program will feature a timely, policy-driven plenary session unveiling the latest version of the Housing Indicator Tool (HIT). Throughout the day, we’ll celebrate outstanding leaders and contributions to our field by honoring the Housing Achievement Award Winners, the Generation& Scholarship Recipient, and the Children’s Essay Contest Winner. The Housing Expo will offer attendees an incredible opportunity to showcase their organizations, exchange ideas, and forge the connections vital to building a more equitable region.

For 35 years, Housing& has convened, connected, and catalyzed action — forging connections, strengthening capacity, deepening trust, and driving systems-level change – with the shared goal of increasing housing affordability and expanding access to stable homes.

The 2026 Generation& Scholarship Recipient

This year’s Generation& Scholarship recipient is Chiagoziem Njoku, a senior at McKinley Technology High School whose leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to service reflect the strength of the next generation of leaders. An athlete, student ambassador, and aspiring physical therapist, Chiagoziem gained confidence in learning to fully embrace her name and finding a path forward that is rooted in helping others recover strength and sense of agency in their own lives.

The Children’s Essay Contest Winner

We’ll also recognize Jordan Tolen, winner of this year’s Children’s Essay Contest. In response to the prompt “What does injustice look like to me?”, Jordan reflects on how young people understand fairness, belonging, and the opportunities they have to learn, lead, and build stronger communities. Her experience in Communities Together Inc.’s youth programs illustrates how the efforts of Housing& members are shaping lives, reminding us why this work continues to matter across our region.

Thank you to our Generation& Scholarship Judges!
